21.10.2010

Last day of the holiday ! A wonderful day ! Sun and hot ! We weren't so decided what to do: to go on the beach, to walk around .... We decided to pack, to stay outside, at our little table in front of the room till 12 o'clock when we had to release the hotel room. The time passed so quickly ! At 12 o'clock we put the luggage in the car and went for the last drive and wander through the neighbourhood. Our flight is at 22.30, so we have to be in the airport around 20.30. The airport is 16 km away from Paphos. The car has to be left in the airport parking with the key in the trunk, that's all ! I think that the behaviour of the Cypriots is different from the Greeks, maybe because the Cypriots were under English influence for a long time, the English being very correct and disciplined. I think that you can see this immediately.

We went to the harbour, looked again in shops. We didn't buy things like clothes, shoes, just little souvenirs.

And because we had some euros left we did something that we both wanted to do: rented a motorboat for half an hour. The name of the motorboat was "Michalis". The Cypriot we rented it from explained very clear and simple and nice to Simon how to drive the motorboat. The price was 35 euros for that half an hour, but it was worth it! At the beginning I was a little scared because Simon was driving quite fast, were waves and I felt like we were flying above the water ! It's such a strange feeling to feel like this: flying above water ! To see the waves coming, so much water, only water around you ! It was like dancing on the water !

When we went offshore, the wind was from behind, so the waves were actually carrying us. When we came back to the shore, the boat had to break the waves, so at a higher speed you had the impression that the boat will break in the waves. It was really an extraordinary experience! I made beautiful pictures, me, because Simon was driving !

After that we went again in a place were we could find fossils. And again I felt I could look for hours, without being bored ! In the end we felt hungry and went for dinner to "Tea for Two".

We drove after dinner to the airport. The flight will take around 5 hours till Gatwick, London. I hope we will be able to sleep. We were using Easyjet. You could see immediately the difference because there were only English people. Everywhere: queuing and behaving nicely, patiently, at check-in, boarding, in the plane .... I had a laugh because Simon couldn't stop and he was noticing that every time ! The EasyJet flight to Gatwick was very enjoyable because the on board staff were so nice, little jokes every now and then and excellent service, you didn't notice the 5 hours of flying.
